POSITION: Designer

REPORTS TO: Principal

POSITION PURPOSE

Support of the entire LDG organization as well as the creative design strategy for new business generated through bids, strategic accounts, and sales opportunities. Perform design services on large projects from concept development through project completion for bid responses, in collaboration with project designers and/or as an individual contributor. Collaborate with the Principal to represent the design process in client meetings, presentations, and strategic selling scenarios. Contribute to LDG group meetings focused on trends, project reviews and development of best practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Design:

  • Support projects from concept thru construction; produce project drawings and designs, select colors, materials and finishes to appropriately convey the design concept, prepare specifications and schedules with accurate product information for all furniture, plumbing, appliances, lighting and finishes, etc.
  • Ensure the complete, accurate and timely development of final product specification for a proposal to the client including a final review of specifications to ensure accuracy and original design intent.
  • Prepare construction documents, consisting of plans, elevations, details and specifications, to illustrate non-structural and/or non-seismic partition layouts; power and communication locations; reflected ceiling plans and lighting designs; materials and finishes; and furniture layouts.
  • Exhibit working knowledge of design trends and materials; specify custom furniture, finishes, lighting, etc.

Project Management/Team Management:

  • Oversee design direction and partner with designers on large, long-term and/or complex projects.
  • Support project from concept thru construction; facilitate pricing, procurement and installation.
  • Proficient in researching and proposing sustainable selections while working within budget limits and reasonable timelines, preparing specifications and presentation boards, and following a project through installation.
  • Provide oversight of multiple projects at one time.
  • Work closely with architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, and builders, to determine how interior spaces will function, look, and be furnished
  • Provide coordination and supervision of furnishings installation.

 

Client Relations/Sales/Financial:

  • Assist Principal to define project design approach and design solutions for projects.
  • Attend meetings as needed with Principal to identify the initial scope of work and intent.
  • Create design development packages for assigned projects with realistic timelines and reasonable project costs.
  • Ensure the complete, accurate and timely development of final product specification for a proposal to the client including a final review of specifications to ensure accuracy and original design intent.
  • Provide oversight of and responsibility for the project furnishings budgets.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors and/or masters preferred; 3+ years of design work experience in various project types
  • Licensed designer or on the path to becoming licensed.
  • Fluent in AutoCAD, Autodesk® Revit, Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office and TSheets Time Tracking.
  • Strong conceptual design and critical thinking skills.
  • Professional, confident, and positive with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as a team.

Paid Time Off:
LDG provides PTO for employees based on length of service with the company. LDG recognizes the importance of its employees to have continued income during certain unexpected situations requiring time off. PTO is a benefit provided to all full-time employees who have completed one year of service.

After one full year of employment with LDG employees will receive:

  • Five (5) 8-hr/days of paid vacation during each calendar year
  • Five (5) 8-hr/days of paid sick/personal time during each calendar year

After three (3) full years of employment with LDG employees will receive:

  • Ten (10) 8-hr/days of paid vacation during each calendar year
  • Five (5) 8-hr/days of paid sick/personal time during each calendar year

Vacation days should be used for scheduled time away from work, and those days should be planned with your supervisor in advance. PTO must be used in the year in which it is accrued.

Holidays:
Six (6) 8-hr/days paid holidays and one (1) 8-hr/days paid floating day of your for a total of seven (7) 8-hr/days paid holidays each year. LDG’s paid company holidays include:
New Year’s Day, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving Day, Independence Day/4th of July, Christmas Day

LDG does not offer a company insurance plan/policy however, pre-tax health insurance allowances are available.
