A Knoxville Kitchen Bathed in Blue: A David Hockney Dream Brought to Life

Some kitchens make a statement, and then there are kitchens that tell a story. This Knoxville, TN masterpiece designed by Dani Miller of Lauderdale Design Group does both—seamlessly blending bold design with personal inspiration. Inspired by the vibrant world of David Hockney, this kitchen is a celebration of color, creativity, and serendipitous design choices.

The goal was clear: craft a kitchen that felt as if it had stepped out of a Hockney painting—bold, playful, and visually striking. The team achieved this through cobalt blue tiles from Concrete Collaborative, arranged with precision to create an impactful yet balanced aesthetic. To ground the vibrancy, they paired the tiles with maple wood veneer cabinetry, ensuring warmth and harmony within the space.

But what sealed the deal on this stunning shade of blue? A moment of pure design fate. Miller recalls how her client, Alaina, arrived at their studio wearing Point Move Earrings in the exact same cobalt hue as the tile. That was the confirmation they needed. “Cobalt blue was our color,” says Miller.
